This year for International Women’s Day, we asked a selection of our female colleagues a few questions around this year’s theme of #BreakTheBias. Here is what Chanel Prinsloo had to say
Imagine a gender equal world, what does that look like for you?
Like one beautiful and bright Rainbow with glitter sparkles.
Have you ever experienced a time where a male counterpart was praised over you on a shared project? How did that make you feel and how did you address this?
I feel betrayed and could not understand what was happening when both efforts were placed, I reached out to the senior and was ignored so I just left it at that.
Have you ever challenged gender stereotypes, discrimination and bias?
No.
How will you be celebrating International Women’s Day?
Encouraging praising and motivate women to not give up.
Why is gender equality important?
It's essential for economic prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right.
Do you believe that gender equality in the workplace is improving?
Yes.
If you could share a piece of advice to your younger self about your career, what would it be?
You are doing a great job!!
